Crown Bar Patriotic Brooch WW2

A patriotic brooch dating from the Second world War (1939 - 1944)

A bar shaped brooch with a crown and wings, decorated in red, clear and blue rhinestones. all set into a silver metal. This is possibly sterling silver but is unmarked.

Patriotic sentimental jewellery flourished during the Second World War, being very popular with the sweethearts and families of soldiers serving overseas.
The romantic in us believes that this brooch was given by an American soldier to his English sweetheart during the war.

We think that there may be 3 small stones missing along the crown, possibly 2 clear and one blue but, because they are the ones missing it is not noticeable. We have also wondered on whether they are missing and is the brooch complete without them? 

This is however a very nice collectible brooch measuring about 4.5 cm across
