Early Edwardian antique Brooch that looks as if it was handcrafted rather than machine manufactured.
Made in a bright gold tone metal, which has some patination with age.
All the brooches parts have been made separately, including each individual petal and soldered together. A time consuming process
In the center of the flower (which we think is a chrysanthemum) is a pearl bead.
The leaves have been realistically cast to show the veins and indentations of leaves
Clasp on reverse is C shaped rather than the later ball and clasp design.
The pin wire is traditionally from an iron coloured metal compared to the bright gold metal of the rest of the brooch. This was a trait of the early antique or vintage jewellery makers
A large piece of floral antique jewellery that would have looked perfect pinned on a hat or bag
Measures about 9 cm across and 7 cm at its widest
